Historic heritage
refurbishment in the
heart of the lake District
Set within the Ambleside Conservation Area, the 170-year-old Temperance Inn required a careful balance between preserving historic character and introducing modern hospitality standards. The refurbishment took place over a 43-week programme.
Works included full strip-out, new M&E installations, partitions, ceilings and floor finishes, bespoke joinery and ensuite bathrooms across the hotel, restaurant, bar and manager’s accommodation. A detached annex was refurbished to create a six-bedroom holiday cottage and staff accommodation.
