2025 has been a significant year for Aptus, marked by major project completions, continued growth across healthcare, education and heritage sectors, and measurable social value delivered through our work across the North East and Yorkshire.

Recognition and awards 

This year, Aptus was proud to see the team’s work recognised through multiple industry awards, including:

  • Constructing Excellence North East SME of the Year 2025
  • Insider Media Contractor of the Year 2025 – awarded for the third consecutive year
  • Shortlisted at national level, building on continued regional success

A year of growth 

2025 also reflected continued trust from clients across our core sectors:

  • Turnover up 44%
  • 18% growth in our team, with six new team members joining the business

Project highlights 

This year saw completion and progress across a wide range of live refurbishment programmes, including:

  • Middlesbrough Central Library – a Grade II refurbishment restoring a civic learning landmark and reopening a modern, inclusive library for the community.
  • Benton House, NTW Solutions – completion of a specialist mental healthcare refurbishment, including the North East’s first Deaf CAM room.
  • Newcastle University Student Accommodation – delivery of 313 refurbished rooms across three sites within an eight-week summer programme.
  • Durant Hall, Northumbria University – major progress on a Grade II heritage transformation, with completion expected in Spring 2026.
  • Section 136 Healthcare Refurbishment – works underway to deliver a 40,000 sq ft state-of-the-art mental health facility, completing Q1 2026.

Social value highlights

Social value has remained a consistent priority throughout the year, evidenced through measurable outcomes:

  • £8m+ total social value measured in 2025
  • £8m+ local spend within 30 miles of site
  • 33 student engagement events delivered
  • 188 work experience and volunteer hours contributed
  • 7 local jobs created

This has included education engagement at live sites, careers workshops with local colleges, and project-linked learning opportunities that support future pathways into the industry.

Looking forward to 2026

As we enter 2026, key developments are already underway:

  • A new website launching in Q1 2026
  • A wider brand refresh, evolving Aptus’ visual identity to better reflect the work we deliver
  • New frameworks secured, strengthening routes to market across our core sectors
